Love Over Everything

You may have heard the saying, “Family over everything.”  It’s a catchy little phrase with a lovely sentiment. However, faith requires a greater perspective. Faith commands you place love over everything.

First you must love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind. Then you should love your neighbor as yourself. Once you’ve committed to these commands, love will be the motivation for all that you do.

Faith is how you develop your relationship with God and hope is your belief in His promises. Both are essential to utilize your spiritual gifts and to maintain their value.

If you’re not careful, you’ll start acting like the Corinthians. They began to see their spiritual gifts as symbols of personal achievements instead of byproducts of their love. They took much pride in their gift of speaking in tongues, but lost sight of the foundational gifts of faith, hope, and love.

Three things will last forever, faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT
