Each day you awaken is a gift of God’s mercy and grace. When you open your eyes each morning, the first thing you should do is tell God thank you for another day! Each day brings new opportunities to experience the many blessings He’s bestowed upon you.
I remember my Grandmother always saying, “I thank God for waking me up this morning, clothed in my right mind, with the activity of my limbs.” She understood the promise of a new beginning and how it was a precious gift from God.
There’s so much calamity going on in the world today, you could easily be consumed. But because of God’s love for you, his protection and compassion never fails.
In order for a new day to begin, new darkness must occur. It is the darkness of a sunset which transitions you into the sunrise of a new day. The sunset is the foundation and visual representation of the promise of a new day.
Although there will be dark days in your life, God’s mercy shields you from total devastation. His mercy gives you hope. This hope encourages you to face the challenges of each new day with optimism. Therefore, you have an expectation of victory because you know his love for you never fails.
Lamentations 3:22–23 says, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
