Take A Look In The Mirror
It’s easy for you to point out the wrong in others. It’s as if you have an objective vantage point from which you can look down on others. Well, my dear friend you don’t.
Those very deliberate and stern words written in Ephesians 4 were meant for you too! This is where a mirror comes in handy; the mirror can be literal or figurative. The point is that you examine yourself to be sure you’re not guilty of the same offenses.
One of the beautiful things about God is that He gives great fatherly advice. He does that so you know what not to do, but also teaches you what you should do. In chapter 4 of Ephesians He admonishes you on what not to do. But later gives guidance on what you should do.
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32)
When was the last time you looked in your spiritual mirror? It will help you see how well you’re doing the things God told you to do. But, it can also reveal the areas you need to work on.
