You may have heard that F.E.A.R stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. This idea speaks to the fact that you oftentimes you fear the unknown based on an outcome you’ve made up in your own mind. If you’re brave enough to push through your fear, it usually turns out that what you expected wasn’t true or as bad as you’d thought.
Now, rational fears can serve a purpose. For example, coming across a bear while on a hike is perfectly logical and enables the fight or flight response needed to find safety. Fear may also come up in the form of intuition which can be used to protect you from actions or situations that could be potentially dangerous.
Irrational fear that comes from the enemy must not be allowed to occupy space in your mind. It’s the type of fear that prevents you from accomplishing the things God has planned for you. God has equipped you with power, love and a sound mind. If you put your faith in him, there’s nothing for you to be afraid of.
Always remember, just as worry and worship can’t dwell together in the heart of a believer, neither can fear and faith! Since God is in control of everything, you don’t have to fear anything!
2 Timothy 1:7 ~ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
