In today’s society we are judged by the way we look. The value placed on outward appearance, may result in living a lifestyle in which you’re constantly seeking acceptance from others. It may also negatively impact the way you see yourself.
“But the Lord said unto Samuel, look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:17 (KJV)
This scripture teaches us not to judge others based on appearance. When your value is based on the opinions of others, you constantly seek external validation. Inward beauty is the reflection of God who lives in you.
Although man can only see your exterior, God can see everything, including your motives. What is in your heart will be will show up in your thoughts and actions. Therefore, the condition of your heart is important because your inward beauty dictates your outward behavior.
