Learning to Love the Unlovable

Sometimes you hear that it’s hard to love a certain person. Well, if the truth be told, that could  be the same in your case too.  Sure there will always be people that most folks gravitate towards because they possess a certain charm that makes them desirable to be around.

Then there are those folks that send off a vibe kind of like an advance warning system indicating they don’t want to be bothered. These are the folks that typically get labeled as hard to love.  When in fact, maybe the issues are that no-one has taught them how to receive or give love.  They may not even know what love looks like.

So just as plants need nourishment to grow, so does love.  And as we all know what you sow, will grow.  I’m challenging you to sow the type of love God expects. It is found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”

If you keep those identifiers of love in mind, you can love everybody. It doesn’t say you have to be in relationship with them, try to change them, hangout with them, fix them or like their ways. God’s command to you is to love them. He will take care of the rest!
