More Numerous Than The Sand

Have you ever wondered how much God thinks about you? Whenever I take a trip to the beach, I’m in awe of God’s mastery when he made heaven and earth.  Not only am I amazed by his craftsmanship, I can’t help but recognize how small I am in relation to the universe. Understanding my significance in the universe can be used to both humble and empower me.

I am humbled because it is clear that the power of God is unmatched by any other being. According to Matthew 8:27, literally, the wind and the sea obey him.  How can we exist and not give reverence to God almighty?  Any amount of time spent in nature, not just at the beach, should stir up a holy compliment for our God, who is the master over everything.

I am empowered because I understand the significance that the same God who created heaven and earth, also made me. He carefully weaved the tapestry of experiences that shaped my life.  He took all the complexities of human nature to create the person who is uniquely me.

If sometimes you feel lost or insignificant , you can utilize the sand on the beach as a visual reference of just how much you mean to God.  Of all of his creations, you are his favorite!  Psalms 139:17-18 says, “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.”  Now, this should be mind blowing to you.  Try to imagine counting the grains of sand. It’s impossible to fathom. Well, that’s the same unfathomable  number of his thoughts toward you.
