You’ve probably heard about the act of staying present. It’s an enlightened approach to managing stress. Non-human species do it all the time by utilizing instincts and reflexes to survive. However, human survival relies heavily on learning and planning. Your awareness of time makes it difficult for you to stay in the moment.
Because of your faith in God, you should not worry about anything. Time spent worrying about the future diminishes the joy you experience today. Worry never changes anything. Prayer changes everything and the answer to your prayers are the result of trusting God for the outcome.
Worry indicates a lack of trust in God. Although it is normal to have questions about the future and concerns about how things will work out, it is through your daily prayers and trust in God that you’ll have peace about your future.
The past serves as a tool for learning and focusing on the future requires planning. However, neither should result in fear. Based upon your belief in God’s promises, you should take the lessons learned from your past and combine them with plans for your future. Doing this effectively will result in more happiness because you won’t be worried about the past which is over or the future which you have no control of.
Matthew 6:34 - “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” God commands you not to worry and encourages you to trust in Him. If you spend your time worrying, it undermines your trust in God and the belief that He is with you always and has everything under control concerning you.
